Mojiganga Theatre. Director: Manuel Collado

"Only the Night Exists" is a work inspired by the correspondence between Miguel Hernández and Federico García Lorca. The piece imagines an encounter between the two on a Madrid night in 1935: a young Hernández, recently arrived from the countryside and determined to make his way in literature, in front of an already consecrated, brilliant, contradictory Lorca and aware of his place in the Spanish cultural scene. What begins as a conversation between poets drifts towards a clash of worlds. Humble origins confront the well-to-do life. Popular literature seeks institutional recognition. Social commitment asks creative freedom to account. It is admired as well as wounded. The work does not intend to reconstruct a closed scene documentarily, but to theatrically tense a real, complex and fertile relationship, crossed by letters, expectations, disagreements and a Spain that is rushing towards war. The relevance of the piece for the Centenary of the Generation of '27 is direct.

Mojiganga Sociedad Ilimitada, was born in 2018 when the Malaga company resident in La Térmica, Surterráneo Teatro, considered them to carry out two micro-theatre proposals for La Noche de los libros. That year they won the award for best dramaturgy during the Expres Microtheatre Festival of Granada. The legality of evil was premiered in 2022 at the V Philosophy Festival organised by the Diputación de Málaga and was awarded the first prize "MálagaCrea de Artes Escénicas" with special mentions for Best Director and Best Actor.

Manu Collado
Teacher, columnist, screenwriter and playwright. After completing the Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy and his master's studies in Murcia and Salamanca, he settled in Malaga in 2017, where he began working for the Surterráneo Teatro company in different departments. In 2018 he began his career as an independent professional writing works such as El canto de la moneda (2nd MálagaCrea Award 2021), directing the stage debate La legalidad del mal (1st Prize and Best Director, 2022) or designing the sound space of Mal Olor (Factoría Echegaray, 2024). Currently, he also writes for La Vanguardia.
