About
Twenty-six black and white photographs that portray costumbrista scenes of the residents of Fuengirola in the 60s, the work of the Jesuit priest Luis Ramírez Benéytez (Mora, Toledo, 1927 - Alhaurín de la Torre, 2016), who served as parish priest in the town.
Without being a professional photographer, Ramírez left a graphic testimony of great documentary and social value about the daily life of Fuengirola at the time, which reinforces the sense of identity of the city. The original negatives have been donated by his heirs to the Fuengirola City Council.
An economist by training, Ramírez also stood out as a writer and contributor to the Diario Sur, and was awarded the First Prize in the Andalusian Novel in 1987 for "El ciego y oscuro salto de Francisco Vicaría".
