About
Fire, good wishes and a seafaring atmosphere liven up the San Juan Festival and mark the beginning of summer in Fuengirola. The popular and magical Night of San Juan is the central event of this festivity that takes place on June 24, although the most popular celebrations begin the night before, June 23.
Residents and visitors gather in the authorized areas of the beaches to contemplate the starry sky, leave behind bad luck and negativity and fulfill the ritual of jumping the waves as a way of purification. A tradition deeply associated with the customs of the municipality in a festive atmosphere and a seafaring character.
The Night of San Juan extends beyond the beaches with festivities such as the Verbena de San Juan de El Boquetillo. The local festival hosts performances by local choirs and dance groups, as well as food and drink stalls and activities for all audiences.
